What are crosschain swaps?

Crosschain swaps let you swap tokens across multiple networks in a single action, directly from the Uniswap web app or Uniswap Wallet. For example, you can swap ETH on Ethereum for USDC on Base without needing to bridge and swap separately.

How crosschain swaps work

When you select tokens on two different supported networks, Uniswap automatically chains the required steps together to bridge your assets to the destination network and swap them for the token you want.

Crosschain swaps are powered by the Across bridge and Uniswap's own routing. No additional third-party bridges are introduced. These are the same protocols Uniswap already uses for bridging and swapping.

Supported networks

Crosschain swaps are available on the following networks:

  • Ethereum
  • Unichain
  • Arbitrum
  • Base
  • Optimism
  • Soneium
  • ZKsync
  • Zora
  • World Chain

The following networks are not available for crosschain swaps:

  • Avalanche
  • Blast
  • BNB Chain
  • Celo
  • Monad
  • Polygon
  • Solana
  • X Layer

Support for additional networks may be added over time.

Fees and timing

Crosschain swaps include the bridging fee paid to Across to move your assets as well as any network costs. All fees are reflected in the quote shown before you confirm the swap.

Crosschain swaps may take longer than same-network swaps. The time depends on the networks involved and current network conditions. Most crosschain swaps complete within a few minutes, though some may take longer.

Crosschain swaps vs. bridging

Bridging moves the same token from one network to another. For example, bridging ETH on Ethereum to ETH on Base. The token doesn't change, only the network it's on.

Crosschain swaps swap one token for a different token across networks. For example, swapping ETH on Ethereum for USDC on Base. The bridging step is handled automatically as part of the swap.

Uniswap supports both. For information on bridging, see How to bridge tokens using the Uniswap web app and How to bridge tokens using the Uniswap Wallet.
