Uniswap Labs Trademark Guidelines

Last updated June 17, 2025

Background

Uniswap Labs has created and deployed various versions of the Uniswap Protocol and creates and distributes other software and products. While much of the code developed by Uniswap Labs is available to download, review, and improve under open-source and source-available software licenses, none of our software licenses include a license to use our trademarks. Proper use of our trademarks is essential to inform users of Uniswap Labs’s connection to specific products or services. When using our trademarks, you must comply with these Uniswap Labs Trademark Guidelines. Just like other projects, we must enforce our trademark rights to protect our users.

Scope

These guidelines cover all of our trademarks and service marks (collectively, “Trademarks”), whether they are registered or not, including, among others:

  1. Trademarks: UNISWAP, UNI, and UNISWAP LABS™ (“Uniswap Labs wordmarks”).
  2. Uniswap Labs logos.

If you want to report misuse of a Uniswap Labs trademark, please contact us at legal@uniswap.org.

Acceptable Uses

You may do the following without receiving specific permission from Uniswap Labs:

  • Use the Uniswap Labs wordmarks in text to truthfully refer to, describe, or link to unmodified Uniswap smart contracts, protocols, interfaces, programs, products, services and technologies (“Uniswap Labs software”).
  • Use the Uniswap Labs wordmarks to truthfully describe modified versions of Uniswap software that you may create or make available. For example, you may say “This software is derived from Uniswap software” or “This service uses software derived from Uniswap software.”
  • Use the Uniswap Labs wordmarks in software or aggregators that integrate with Uniswap software to truthfully refer to, and, where possible, link to the applicable Uniswap software hosted on the Ethereum blockchain.
  • Use the Uniswap Labs wordmarks to clearly signal to users that there is no affiliation with or endorsement by Uniswap Labs in software or aggregators that integrate with Uniswap software.
  • Follow the terms of the licenses for Uniswap Labs software.

Implementation of Acceptable Uses

You must include a trademark attribution notice at the first or most prominent mention of the Uniswap Labs wordmark on a webpage, document or documentation, such as: “[Uniswap Labs trademark] is a trademark of Uniswap Labs.”

  • You must always use the Uniswap Labs wordmarks in their exact form and with the correct spelling, neither abbreviated, hyphenated, nor combined with any other word or words.
  • You must always use the Uniswap Labs wordmarks only as an adjective, never as a noun or verb, or in plural or possessive forms.
  • Use the generic term for the Uniswap Labs product or service following the trademark.
    • For example: Uniswap protocol, Uniswap interface.

All other uses of Uniswap Labs Trademarks require our prior written permission.

Contact us at legal@uniswap.org with requests for permission or for more information.

Unacceptable Uses

There are some uses of our Trademarks that are not acceptable.

  • Don’t use our Trademarks in anything dishonest or fraudulent.
  • Our name is not your name. Don’t use Uniswap Labs Trademarks in the name of your smart contract, interface, business, product, service, app, domain name, username, publication, or other offering.
  • Don’t use our name for your products. Don’t apply Uniswap Labs Trademarks to your product (e.g., a mobile app), unless such use is limited to a truthful and descriptive reference (e.g., “Mobile App for trading on Uniswap interface”).
  • Don’t emphasize our mark. Don’t display Uniswap Labs Trademarks more prominently than your product, service, or company name.
  • Don’t use or imitate our distinctive website design, logos, designs, or typefaces.
  • Don’t create or use confusingly similar Trademarks or names. Don’t use Trademarks, company names, slogans, domain names, or designs that are confusingly similar to Uniswap Labs Trademarks.
  • Don’t imply our affiliation with, connection to, or association with you or your products or services. For example, please do not name your project compatible with Uniswap software Uni-[Something].
  • Don’t imply our sponsorship, approval, or endorsement of your activities, products, or services. For example, you cannot name your social media account, page, or community “Uniswap Protocol” or “Uniswap Team.”
  • Don’t create swag with our Trademarks. Don’t use Uniswap Labs Trademarks on merchandise (e.g., t-shirts, mugs, etc.) without our permission.
  • Don’t change or combine our marks. Don’t modify Uniswap Labs Trademarks, abbreviate them, or combine them with any other symbols, words, or images, or incorporate them into a tagline or slogan.
  • Do not use the Uniswap logos without prior written permission.

Others’ Trademarks

A note on others’ trademarks: Uniswap Labs operates one of the (many) interfaces for accessing the Uniswap Protocol, but does NOT operate or control the Uniswap Protocol. Without the involvement of Uniswap Labs, a third-party developer can use the Ethereum protocol to create a token that may implicate others’ trademarks or other rights and add that token to the Uniswap Protocol. Uniswap Labs cannot prevent or block any actions related to the Uniswap Protocol. However, if Uniswap Labs becomes aware of trademark misuse allegations, we will work with trademark owners to review the allegations and may block content from the Uniswap Labs interface.
